ABOUT DENYCE

Multi-Ethnic (African American | Korean) Actress Denyce Lawton born in Seoul Korea and raised in the New Jersey communities of Belmar and Neptune (Infamously known from MTV's hit series ‘Jersey Shore’), later moving to Washington, DC and graduating from Largo High School in Largo, Maryland.

Graduating at the top of her class with pursuit to study Pre-Med at University of Maryland to become a doctor but eventually left to pursue her ignited passion in theater and television. While participating in several clubs and programs…The Drama Club proved to be most influential.

Denyce began her professional entertainment career as Assistant Vice President of Urban Promotions at Warner Brothers Records before moving on to do A&R at Priority Records in New York City. She then later served as Personal Assistant to Record Executive Irv Gotti at Murder Inc | Def Jam Records. Wanting to finally transition into film and television, Denyce ventured out and served as an Assistant Junior Publicist at 20th Century Fox Pictures. Denyce then hit the pavement hard as a background dancer on the Broadway stage and later for recording artists such as Kanye West (YE), N’SYNC, Mya, Nelly, Jagged Edge, Ja Rule and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs just to name a few.

During her multifaceted music industry career, Denyce also had a remarkably successful modeling career. Modeling for brands such as Kemi Oil, FUBU, ADIDAS, Enyce, Karl Kani, Tommy Hilfiger and Baby Phat while gaining acting experience with roles in New York City’s famous ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ series. Soon after these pursuits, Denyce became one of the most sought-after and highest paid models for music videos for artists such as Clay Aiken (‘The Way’), 112 (‘Peaches & Cream’), Nas (‘One Mic’) and Jaheim (‘Anything’) among others. After retiring from the music video scene with a 16-year hiatus, Denyce recently revisited her roots as leading lady in ‘Power’ Actor & Recording Artist Rotimi's recent hit single video, 'Don't You Ever.'

After years of paying dues in the music industry and later booking background and smaller roles in film and television, Denyce took a leap of faith and relocated to Los Angeles after the 9/11 attacks to solely focus on her acting career. Denyce received her first big break, landing her best-known series regular role as Dana Carter for four (4) seasons on six (6) time NAACP Best Comedy Series Winner, ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.’

Currently, Denyce is starring in Ridley Scott’s National Geographic and Disney+ series ‘The Hot Zone: Anthrax,’ as Lobbyist Sheila Willis (Starring opposite Daniel Dae Kim & Tony Goldwyn) now available on HULU & Amazon Prime, she also starred in TUBI TV’s first original holiday film, ‘Most Wanted Santa’ as FBI Agent Harper Winslow released December 2021. Additionally, Denyce has had guest star roles on hit series such as ‘Chicago PD’ and recurring roles on shows such as BET+‘s ‘A Luv Tale,’ directed by hit series ‘This Is Us’ Writer & Executive Producer Kay Oyegun. She is no stranger to being a leading lady starring in fan favorite films such as ‘Secrets,’ ‘The Coalition,' ‘The Dempsey Sisters' and recent BET’s original thriller ‘Fanatic’ opposite Hosea Chanchez.

Denyce’s 2022 releases include her voice as character MJ in popular video game Saints Row 5 and Lead Actress in TV One's film 'Under the Influence' as Danae Herndon. 2023 includes more roles on the big screen while also producing and directing her very own passion projects.
